AUDIO

Audio versions

The french stories have audio versions recorded by professional native storytellers.

Voice recording

Adult or child, record your voice and become a storyteller of our stories! For adults, it's an opportunity to offer a personalized version (which can also be shared remotely). For children, it's a fun and original way to practice reading alone or with others.

Adjustable audio playback rate

As the child listens to the narrator tell the story, he or she can choose to slow down the pace of the reading so that the story is read to him or her more slowly and at a pace more suited to his or her comprehension skills. The adjustable reading pace is compatible with the karaoke/highlighted word function.

Reverse Karaoke

When listening to an audio version, the child can choose the 'Listen to Karaoke' option: the groups of words light up as they are spoken by the storyteller, and help the child in the oral-writing association and the construction of phonological awareness.

Text to speech

When this option is activated, just click or touch any word to listen to the audio version of the word and thus hear its pronunciation.
In the process of learning to read and more specifically for deciphering, this feature complements very well the reverse karaoke and the colorization of phonemes and silent letters.

TEXTE

Fonts

Storyplay'r offers 5 very different fonts including the OpenDyslexic font, a font designed by and for dyslexics. The particularity of this font is to give a 'weight' to the letters and to prevent them from turning. It helps dyslexics who can't stabilize letters.

Size

Storyplay'r allows you to display the text of the albums in different sizes and widths making it easier for the child to read.

Colors

As we know, black on white writing is not always the best combination for a comfortable reading. That's why Storyplay'r allows you to choose between different combinations of letter colors and page background colors.

Colorization of french phonemes

To decipher, we must establish the link between the fundamental sounds of the language called phonemes and their written forms called graphemes.
To help the child overcome these difficulties of the French language, Storyplay'r proposes, for all the texts of the library, to colorize the phonemes, each phoneme in a different color.

Silent letters

One of the major difficulties of the French language is not to pronounce the numerous 'mute letters'.
On all the texts of the library, Storyplay'r proposes to grey out the mute letters. With this option activated, the beginner or struggling reader will be able to read a text more easily, progress and become familiar with the subtlety of the french language.

Syllabification

Storyplay’r offers a syllable-splitting tool for all the books in its catalog. This feature benefits young readers in their learning process, enabling them to recognize syllabic structures. This tool helps to understand phonetics, improve word pronunciation, and develop phonological awareness.

Sentence structure - Punctuation

Storyplay’r offers the option to highlight punctuation in all the stories in its catalog. With this feature enabled, beginning readers can easily spot the punctuation in sentences. This is essential for learning grammar and reading. By emphasizing punctuation, the reader knows where to pause while reading, which enhances both reading fluency and fluidity.

Spacing of lines, words and letters

When children learn to read, they must first learn to distinguish the elements of text: letters, words and sentences. This is made easier at first by spacing the lines, words and letters from each other.
Storyplay'r allows the child to adapt this spacing exactly to his needs and reading level for a smooth progression.

Alternating colors of lines and words

When reading a text, children can sometimes have difficulty distinguishing words and lines, especially when moving on to the next line. This is why Storyplay'r makes it possible to color every second word and/or every second line, thus overcoming this difficulty or even bypassing it momentarily and focusing all of the child's attention on other aspects of his reading (deciphering).

Reading cover

Much like a child's natural 'follow the finger' reflex when learning to read, the reading ruler keeps the eye on the reading area by displaying a frame around the lines being read. This feature helps readers follow each sentence, improves concentration and reading fluency.

An inclusive approach

Each child, depending on his age and reading level, can choose the tools that are most useful for him. This approach allows us to make our catalog accessible to all children, including dyslexic children and children with learning difficulties.
