Sleeping Beauty is a folk tale, one of the most famous versions of which is that of the Grimm brothers, published in 1812.

Sleeping Beauty: a summary of the story

The king and queen are mourning the fact that they have no children. One day, a frog appears and announces: "Your wish will be granted, within a year you will give birth to a girl". The frog's prediction came true and the queen gave birth to the child she had wanted so much. The king organises a big party to celebrate the event and invites all the fairies of the country. But a nasty fairy who had been forgotten arrives and puts a spell on the little princess: "When you are fifteen, you will be pricked with a spindle and you will fall dead". Another fairy tries to ward him off: "You will not die, you will sleep for a hundred years"...

Charlie and his friend live in troubled times, with the rise of an extreme political regime, the Brown State, and they go about their lives in a very ordinary way: between beer and belote. They are neither heroes nor pure bastards. They simply look the other way to avoid trouble, but do we know enough about where the little cowardice of each of us can lead us collectively?

This kamishibai can be read by two people: the king's inspector and the innkeeper. The text is composed in the form of a dialogue.

When her mouse friends advise her to give up because of her looks, she starts to cry. Then VSS appears: the Wise Old Mouse. She knows everything and solves the most complicated problems. She will help Moussy to take advantage of her looks and teach her that "a defect can become a quality, it's only a question of will"...

Isabelle Wlodarczyk was inspired by a Russian Christmas song to tell us the story of this tree, a tree that each of us makes king at Christmas time. Bruna Barros tells us in parallel the story of this little girl, this mamouchka, who saw her grow up with a perfect mastery of the complementarity of text and image.

Every evening, when night comes, the moon puts on her coat of light. Plunged in the darkness, she listens, she waits. Then, one by one, the moon turns off all the lights of the city... Then comes the hour of sleep, of dreams and nightmares, but the moon watches. Sleep, good people!
