On a road in Ohio, a Chinese-American family picks up wild cress. While the parents put their whole heart into it and the young boy has lots of fun, their daughter lives with this as a shame. Back home, she shuns the cooked meal by her mother, who then tells her a hurtful episode of her childhood in China, where cress played a role. That night, the cress tasted like a family reunion.
