Le Pousseur de bois

In India, an old man offers a treasure to a little beggar: a few wooden pieces. The child is disappointed, but when the old man starts moving them and narrating battles and expeditions, he begins to dream of himself as an adventure hero.

Thus introduced to chess, the child turns out to be a prodigy. He is then sent to compete against the world's best players…

Years later, covered in glory, the champion returns to his homeland. One day, he too stops in front of a little beggar girl...
