Not long ago, in the Philippine archipelago, two tribes lived together: the Ra'ili, cattle breeders, and the Ifugaos, rice planters. The acquisition of a Dutch cattle herd by the Rââli chief disrupts the island's ecosystem and brings the two tribes to the brink of conflict when they discover that the cows, which eat vanilla, give the rice an exquisite flavor by flooding it with their sweet milk. A journey to the edge of the world to tell the origin of the most famous of our desserts.
