Mary was engaged to be married to a carpenter named Joseph. Mary was a good woman, and Joseph was a good man. They loved each other and were planning to get married.
One day God sent an angel to visit Mary and bring her some very important news. The angel’s name was Gabriel. Gabriel said to Mary, “Do not be afraid. I am here to tell you that you have found favor with God. You are blessed. You will conceive a child, a son, and when He is born you will call Him Jesus. He will be the Son of God, and He will bring salvation to all the world.” Mary asked, “How can this be, for I am a virgin.” The Angel Gabriel answered, “This child is to be The Son of God, and through God all things are possible. You will conceive through the power of the Holy Spirit.” When Mary heard all of this, her heart was filled with joy.
