Charlie and his class are in Cornwall on a school trip. They arrive at the holiday centre, near the sea. The children are very excited! - I can see the sea! says Charlie. - Yeah! Let's go to the beach! says James. - Children! says Miss Todd, their teacher, take your bags to your rooms first, please. It's 9 o'clock in the morning. James's tummy is making funny noises! - Miss! I'm very hungry, says James. - Yes, let's have breakfast, says Miss Todd. We're going to eat a full English breakfast.
The children are enjoying their breakfast but James is not happy. - Who's got my sausage? he asks. And who's got my bacon? Charlie laughs: - It's the Cornish pixies! Look, they are everywhere! - Don't be silly, says James, pixies don't exist! After breakfast, Miss Todd tells the children that they are going on a boat trip. - There are dolphins in Cornwall, says Miss Todd. - Really? Dolphins? I love dolphins! exclaims Vidisha.
The children are on a boat. - Look! says Charlie, there are two dolphins here! - I can't look, says James. The sea is a bit choppy and James is seasick. Poor James! - And there's one over there! says Vidisha. Vidisha is very excited. - Vidisha, be careful! Please sit down! says Miss Todd. Too late! Vidisha is in the water! The water is very cold and Vidisha is scared. - Help! Help! shouts Vidisha. - It's the pixies, Miss, says Charlie. - Don't be silly, Charlie, says Miss Todd. Pixies don't exist!
Poor Vidisha is very cold and thirsty. - Drink this cup of tea, Vidisha, says Miss Todd. Vidisha drinks the tea. - Thank you, Miss. It's nice and hot. James is looking at some Cornish pasties. - Are you hungry again, James? laughs Miss Todd. - I'm always hungry, Miss! - Ok, then, have a Cornish pasty, says Miss Todd. It's a local speciality! In the afternoon, the children go to St Michael's Mount. It is a small island with a castle and a very small village. - The tide is low, explains Miss Todd, we can walk to the Mount.
The children climb to the castle at the top of the Mount. James sits on an old cannon. Miss Todd asks the children: -Do you know the story of the giant of St Michael's Mount? - No, Miss, they say. Tell us the story! - His name is Cormoran, she says. He is huge, he is scary and very dangerous... And this is his castle! - Is there REALLY a giant here? Is this REALLY his castle? asks James. - It's a legend, James! But why are you so red? asks Vidisha, laughing. Are you scared? - No, I'm not scared! says James. I'm just... hot. James doesn't like stories about giants!
