With Storyplay’r, children see written words, understand their meaning thanks to the pictures, and hear the sonority with the narrations. Moreover, there are some tools to help children with reading (highlighted words, pronunciation assistance, text display options…).
Cognitive process’s support of reading learning
Children learn to recognize letters, then words, to associate a sound to each word, to each syllable in order to understand the meaning of the story and learn how to read.
To support reading learning, Storyplay’r suggests an experience for children, to have on the screen:
- Words in written version by displaying the text of the stories on the screen, with many text display options
- Sound of words by allowing listening thanks to an audio version for almost the entire catalog and pronunciation assistance by voice synthesis
- Meaning of words thanks to the pictures, and an explanation to complex words.

Tools and functionalities to support reading learning
Many text display options for better decoding
Storyplay’r has different text display options in each children’s book of the catalog (size, font including OpenDyslexic, color of the font and the background, and line spacing) in order to facilitate the decoding.
I would like to know more about text display options.
Highlighted words or reverse karaoke
When they are listening to an audio version, children can choose the option « Listen karaoke »: groups of words light up at the same time they are pronounced by the storyteller. They help children to associate speaking and writing.
Pronunciation assistance
Pronunciation assistance by voice synthesis is available for children, for the entire stories of the catalog. When the function is activated, children just need to click on the words to hear it!
I would like to know more about the pronunciation assistance by voice synthesis.
Flexible reading pace
When children are listening to the storyteller tell the story, they can choose to slow down the reading pace in order to read the story slower, at a pace adapted to their comprehension capacities. The flexible reading pace is compatible with the karaoke function/highlighted words.
